View Full Version : School/Instructor review?

9/29/2008 7:29am,

Anyone heard of this place? The head instructor there was/is on TUF 8 (though from the episode previews, I don't know if he made it all the way).

Just wondering if anyone has something to say about McLaughlin and/or his BJJ instructor Rob Kahn.

We knew you could do it! Nosone posted, YAY! And if a bot is this rude, just imagine harsh this is gonna be. Hope you're wearing a thick gi.

Rob Kahn posts here occasionally and is an upstanding citizen of the BJJ community.

Sweet. I'll be starting classes with McLaughlin today. Thanks for the heads up on Rob.

Welcome to Bullshido!

Brian McLaughlin has also posted here in the past, albeit only once (http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1483181&postcount=7).

From what I've read, he has both a good reputation and impressive competitive record, but I've never trained at his school, so that's merely going off internet postings.

As you're new to the sport (http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1938710#post1938710), I'll stick up my usual BJJ noob spiel:

You might find this BJJ Beginner FAQ (http://slideyfoot.blogspot.com/2006/10/bjj-beginner-faq.html) useful, as a new student in BJJ.

As I mention in that FAQ, for further reading on BJJ, I'd recommend the following threads:

Slidey is a great resource and you should listen to everything he says.
