Does anyone know anything about the Martial Arts scene in Jamaica? Specifically combat sports? Know of any good places to train and suchs? No BS? Like rilly?

Does anyone on this board live in Jamaica?

Y'know, time and time again I wonder how **** like that makes its way to the 'net. If I filmed myself busting my ass like that while trying to look cool, it would never see the light of day.

I'm not from jamaica, but a couple of my best friends are from there and I trained with Glen Johnson who talked some about it. There is definetely a growing/thriving martial arts scene down there. There are ALOT of boxing gyms in jamaica, and from what I've heard many of them now teach muay thai and they are the primary place to recieve some decent instruction in other MAs as well. As far as traditional martial arts go, check out this link: http://winglungmma.com/ja/

I couldn't really find any other links for you. Once you get down there you will have to just check out some boxing gyms, ask around, and see for yerself.
One of the toughest, baddest guys I ever met was from there, and he had studied muay thai at a camp in the blue mountains. It is supposedly a very hardcore camp led by a thai champion. I'll ask him for the name of it for you.

Are you moving there or something?

Your choices of martial arts in Jamaica, Queens are pretty much the same as anywhere else in New York City to which you can get by any form of transportation.

I meant Jamaica, the island in the West Indies.

Because I'm going home again.

Going home.

Is this a fairly permanent change of address, or a short visit, or something in between?

My guess is that it will be somewhere between 5 years and forever.

Because I'm going home again.
