Hello! This is just a brief Into thread.....

I finally decided to set myself up with a bullshido Username.
(Kambei Shimada is a character from Seven Samurai in case anyone was wondering)

I have about 10 years martial arts experience and am currently training in BJJ.

Let me know if there are any throwdowns in the London/Surrey/South East area as I would be keen to attend one.

All the Best,

Kambei Shimada.

In spite of what some other web-sites would have you believe, we here at Bullshido.net welcome you, Kambei Shimada, with open arms and hope that you will share with us your unique experiences and ideas on the martial arts.... so that we may then make fun of those experiences and ideas.

Cool - where? I've been building a map (http://slideyfoot.blogspot.com/2000/01/uk-bjj-club-list.html), so would be interested to know if you've got anything to add in terms of locations or corrections.

You could try joining the throwdown group (http://groups.google.com/group/bullshidoukthrowdowns), which aims to keep people updated on UK throwdowns. Last one was in Oxford (http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=57370) - next one should be in Belfast (http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1658933#post1658933), either 14th or 21st June.

There was talk of doing one in Reading, but not heard anything further on that yet.

Cool - one of the posters here, Asriel, trains there too. I've only ever trained with Cesar once, when he did a class over at the main Roger Gracie Academy. If the Farringdon option had been around when I started, might well have ended up there myself, as its much closer to my office than RGA, not to mention cheaper. But happy enough where I am, especially as I've built up a good group of training partners now and they've just doubled the mat space. :icon_bigg

I was thinking about the RGA myself but i work near Farringdon and am a bit strapped for cash at the moment. Farringdon seems good though & they do Muay Thai and Boxing Classes also.

Hey man, I only just had my induction (free lesson) at the Vie Academy this week, Seems Good!

What days do you usually train?

Asriel

My days differ due to my job but I try and do Tuesday and Thursday with a 3rd day thrown in if I can make it. Was it Eddie who took your induction?

Initially I was training san da in portsmouth when I was at uni there, then did a brief stint in epsom. Both with namyang, the epsom place is there HQ headed by Ian Armstrong. Couldnt carry on training there but no training made me a sad panda so I decided to get me some more ground skillz and picked up BJJ. Which Im loving, to the extent that going back to san da is not so appealing. However I did some stand up sparring at the oxford throwdown and it did make me miss striking.
