I hope its as good as it looks. With any luck, we'll get less of that politically correct bullshit we saw in the first Fight Science and more of the cool stuff.
They've managed to get quite a line up with Bas Rutten, Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz and Dean Lister.

Apparently MMA is now a Traditional Martial Art because its secret stuff passed down from ancient warriors who trained in secret.
According to their website, getting kicked by Bas Rutten means a trip to the hospital because his kicks generate the force of a 35mph car crash! I think we'll also be able to see how hard his open palm strikes really are.
Now that Randy's retiring from the UFC, he could have a future career in Boxing because he can hit twice as hard as a heavy-weight boxer? WTF?!

They've even got something for all those RBSD people with what i hope is a seperate fight science focusing on Special Ops. They'll be looking into the Navy Seals, Green Berets and the Israeli Commandos.

I sure hope its two seperate Fight Science episodes otherwise it looks to me like another "Street vs. Ring" debate. Quoted from their website:
"Unlike athletes, who prepare for a scheduled competition under controlled conditions, these elite soldiers must excel in ruthless situations that can become deadly without warning."

I'm really interested to see how this goes.

I like how every SF group has their own attributes. And what's with the whole Israeli Commandos thing? There are too many brands of "Commando" within the IDF to just name include them all of them.

I like the fact that they emphasize its strong connection to real martial arts tradition. With so many people going out of their way to construct a false gap between MMA and the ancient/traditional martial arts, its good to see them say, 'no, this is the rightfull heir to that past'. You know, as a pose to the bastardizations that comprise contemporary 'TMAs'.

But in general, I hate Fight Science and every incarnation they've tried to milk out of the franchise (Sports Science, XMA special, etc.). Its kinda like athetics porn. Seriously I don't give a **** if Vince Carter can jump over a Ferrari, show it slow motion 8 times, it's still not gonna get me hard.

And these days MMA specifically is seriously getting played out. I mean damn, i never thought it'd get to the point where I'm tired of hearing about that ****.

I'm still gonna watch it though. And probably enjoy it. ****.

What they choose to ignore is that the elite athletes and elite soldiers train H2H using the same methodology.

Well, I'm definitely going to watch it. I will then regret watching it & spend the next several weeks trying to wash the stink of bad science off my brain.

P.S. there really is a bizarre variety of smilies on this forum. Sometimes I just want to use everything that pops up when I'm typing my post.

I just can't imagine any context in which some of these could be appropriate.

I'm going to watch it and then come back to here for a massive group session of bitch and moan. Heck, I'll probably even participate too.

Holy Moment

I really can't fathom why some people take the " science " on this show seriously. Jesus Christ, how could you trust a show that tells you that a girly hammerfist to the chest can kill you? I just hope someone doesn't watch this and say " OMG, they can kick as hard as a car crash and they hit harder than boxers! BAN IT! BAN IT! Someone's gonna die!"

Well, atleast in their last special boxing and muay thai were represented positevly. BJJ, too. Hopefully, the **** is kept to a minimum in MMA.

That's marketing for ya. Maybe there's someone that has enough money and gives enough of a damn to produce a martial arts version of mythbusters. I'd set aside 30 minutes of my life to see someone throw a real deal chi ball on network TV. Matter of fact, I want a Ninja to punch someone in their chest as hard as he can on the show too.

Dude screw that we just need to get the mythbusters to do a MA episode. Just get enough people to suggest it. That would be one great episode if done right. i mean come on, they already did a ninja episode.

The fact that all the martial artists were different sizes removed any idea of science from the first show and will probably be the same for this one. That being said I still did enjoy the last one for sheer entertainment value and will watch this one expecting a laugh or two.

Mythbusters did a semi-"ninja" episode, regarding stopping a sword with your hands, and walking on water etc...

The Question

Aw ****. More of this ****. Does anyone remember how horrible the original Fight Science was?

This show caters to the half-wits in exactly the same manner as the previous special.

You already have a ton of kids/adults who think ninjitsu is teh deadly because they saw it on TV, and now that stupidity is coming to MMA? Tragic.
