Can anyone tell me the offical website for the ITF. I am doing some research and I found two.

http://www.itf-generalchoi.com

http://www.itf-information.com/main.htm

Both have information that is helpful, but can anyone tell me if either of these are "real" or if there is another.

It's so confusing dealing with TKD organizations

Because both of the sites link to http://www.itf-admin.com and itf-admin.com LINKS to itf-online I'm gonna have to go with itf-online.

itf-information is only for information -- they contain very similar stuff to itf-online. They are owned by http://www.comdo.com which makes ITF TKD CDs and reference materials but is not responsible for the actual administration.

Right now the ITF is split into three groups ITF North Korea, ITF Vienna, ITF Canada. Taekwon-do times just did an article on the three groups, very interesting. All of these groups have websites. If your looking for information about ITF taekwon-do in general I would go to www.itf-information. This site sole purpose is to give information on ITF taekwon-do. Good luck if you have any questions feel free to email me.

I hang out on the itf-information.com general discussion forum. Fightin' the good fight over there. Good forum, though. Nice people.

Matt

It's nice to see someone else from the ITF site. I enjoy the topics you bring up on the board. I think alot of people are pretty much set in their ways. My vision of Taekwon-do is to reunite everyone under one Taekwon-do federation the way it used to be, no ego's attached just people welling to exchange ideas and make taekwon-do better than when the general left it. I would like to see a full-contact division, and update the ground fighting curriculum, plus a major crack down on the MCDOJO'S that give our art a bad name.

problem with the unification is that tkd is going in two different directions right now, if not more.

going under one banner would hurt both sides i would think.

Union will never happen, too much politics.
Too much division.
Too many splinter groups training in TKD for this or that.
Not enough practicing the MA of TKD, too many practicing the sport.

Yeah....

They may be giving it a whirl anyway though. I could wish something comes of this but its likely only related to Olympic activities for Koreans:

No, you guys are right about reuniting the groups right now, I looking further down the road. The only problem I see is the only way to unite is through sport taekwon-do (olympics) which is very sad. I think the olympics has hurt TKD more than helped it. I quess I'm wishy washy, but I know strength is in numbers, and even if the ITF could come together again it would be a step in the right direction. As long as Ego, and Politics are in power we will always be static.

Thanks xero. You post over there or just lurk?

Re: Unification... There is currently an effort by the ITF-NK to join with the WTF. IMO, that would simply end up meaning the ITF accepts WTF froms and sparring, and essentially becomes WTF. What I would like to see (which would encourage me to return to the ITF) is for ITF to follow in the path of Kyokushin, and adopt some hard core bare-knuckle sparring into their training. That would be more in the true spirit of TKD.

Matt

I totally agree with following the path of kyokushin, I don't approve of ITF NK and them adopting WTF poomse and sparring because this is abandoning the Generals work. I think if the WTF were to come together under one unified curriculum like the ITF and the three ITF's were to reunite then there could be talks of reuniting the factions together under a new organization with a compremise in sparring divisions (olympic and traditional) and Forms (patterns and poomses). Could this ever happen, probably not, but it's a nice thought. Off the topic I due post over there once in awhile, mostly i just read because it all revolves around politics and I don't liked to get involved. Plus I have to watch what I write because the Higher ranking instructors do read the message board but they don't post and it does get back to you, especially if you train under someone with pull in the ITF.
