Man charged in Riverside stabbing

NORTH SEWICKLEY TWP. - A 20-year-old North Sewickley Township man faces several charges after police said he stabbed a man Friday outside a football game at Riverside High School. Charges are pending against the second man as well, police said. Darrin Cooper McClean Jr. of 1650 Brighton Road was arraigned Friday on charges of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. He was released from the Beaver County Jail on Saturday after posting bond. Jail personnel did not have bond information Tuesday.

Around 7:30 p.m. Friday, township police were called to the parking lot of Riverside High School for a reported stabbing, and found McClean and Brian D. Duray, 19, of Pine Run Road, Marion Township, in a field adjacent to the school. Police said Duray was bleeding from stab wounds, and about 70 yards away, McClean was lying on the ground with cuts on his head and left thumb. Police said the two, who had been friends, were arguing about a girl and the dispute turned physical. Acting Police Chief Larry Phillips said a maintenance man who saw the fight broke it up and left. But the men fought again, he said.

Duray, who police said has been trained in the Army in mixed martial arts and ground combat fighting, knocked McClean to the ground and began punching and kneeing him, in addition to choking him, police said.

McClean was on the ground when he pulled a fold-out pocket knife from his pants and stabbed Duray in both legs, police said.

McClean initially denied using the knife during the fight but later gave police a statement admitting to using it to stab Duray.

The knife was found in McClean's girlfriend's car, about 10 feet from where the fight took place. Police did not name the girlfriend. Duray was treated at Ellwood City Hospital. McClean refused treatment for his injuries, police said.

Why indeed...sometimes you have to wonder at the paradoxical nature of Bullshido and it's members.

I don't get it.

Nobody said anything about MMA or BJJ or whatever being superior to a knife. In unarmed combat, yeah, but the guy had a fucking knife. You gotta respect the weaponry.

Yup agreed.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't happen to find anything what-soe-ever funny about someone being stabbed.

Wonder if the guy that pulled a knife considered the legal ramifications of his actions? Wonder if the guy who got stabbed considered that the other dude might pull a blade on him?

That's because you're missing the point.

Yep, I'm sure that's the first thing that entered his mind as the mma retard was attempting to choke the life out of him.

Wonder if the guy who got stabbed considered that the other dude might pull a blade on him?

Bingo.

See KF feels that because someone losing a fight needed a blade to get back to scratch, the training of the guy who was winning is somehow invalidated.

He probably also feels he's making some sort of point about the military learning "MMA combat groundfighting" but that sort of ignores the nature of anecdotal evidence, the article's lack of a genuine resolution (we don't know who "won" the fight, only that both people ended up injured), and the fact that we simply don't stress hand to hand combat that much in general 'military' training - someone who has only had say, Air Force basic could have as little as a few afternoons of hand to hand training.

Kungfoolss, for some reason, likes to post news that validates what he already feels. This is kungfoolss' version of impartiality.

OHHHHHHHHHH! I see!
This is one of those "aha! the evidence is in the news articles" to say that MMA type training/fighting is useless because it's all invalidated when someone pulls some kind of weapon :XXbirdman ............
right?

Of course they are missing the point! It's their mindset and how they train. That would be a lasting of mind. And some still don't get it.

Goes right over their head, I don't want to start with these guys they Just don't get it. kungfoolss, I must say that I have been reading a lot of your posts.

And I have to say I'm very impressed. You have a lot of knowledge, probably the best posts I've seen here pertaining to technique through body mechanics, basic knowledge.

You deftly understand the science of self-defense. I just want to thank you. For some great reading.
