Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

More details have emerged surrounding the DUI arrest of former UFC heavyweight champion Kevin "The Monster" Randleman (16-12-0).

According to The Fight Network (http://www.thefightnetwork.com/), Randleman was arrested in Goodsprings, Nevada and charged with multiple offenses including malicious destruction of private property, intimidating a police officer, being under the influence of a controlled substance, driving without a valid license, failure to drive in a travel lane, driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs and speeding 21 to 30 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.

He was held at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas and later released on $11,600 bail.

A police report states that Randleman was clocked at 91 miles per hour and was swerving between lanes, nearly striking multiple vehicles. After stopping, the arresting officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol and a white powder in and around Randleman's right nostril.

The police report also says that after Randleman was placed in the back of the police vehicle, he "began headbutting the transport cage, and bent one of the metal bars." Afterwards, he had to be restrained by several officials while a "force blood draw" as per the laws of Nevada Implied Consent, which grants police officers the right to forcibly test subjects suspected of DUI.

Randlemans attorney declined to comment.

"force blood draw"

I don't like the sound of that, either physically or constitutionally.

Yea I second that, I think if anything he should be suspended...and fined, this is the type of stuff that makes the general public think that fighters are crazy unrully assholes...

Unfortunately, some of them probably are, which lays the foundation for the stereotype.
