Taekwondo Athletes Accused Of Sexual Harassment

Misconduct Allegations Come Just Days Before Olympic Trials

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Allegations of misconduct are surfacing as taekwondo athletes had to Colorado Springs for next week's Olympic trials.

The Gazette said the charges include underage drinking and sexual harassment.

David Askinas, chief executive of U.S. Taekwondo, said he has imposed a zero tolerance policy on such misconduct.

Six current or former junior team members told the newspaper they participated in or saw underage drinking 13 months ago during a competition in Vietnam.

Kay Poe, a member of the U.S. Olympic team in 2000, said younger team members were having sex with older members.

Team members said coaches aren't supervising them closely and they can go from room to room at competitions.

Mandy Meloon, five-time national champion, was cut from the team in April after complaining of sexual harassment.
