View Full Version : WTF happened to the price of Wolf ammo?

Drove by Cabela's (http://www.cabelas.com) today and thought I should stop in and stock up while I was on that side of town.

Now, I know ammo prices in general have gone up, but they were selling Wolf in .40S&W for TWELVE freakin' dollars a box! I can get Winchester 180 gr. FMJ at WAL-MART for that price!

My ex-g/f had told me she was buying Wolf .40 at gun shows for $6 a box. For six bucks, I might be willing to gamble with lacquer residue, jams, and fouling, but $12 seems ludicrously high when I can get Winchester Ranger hollow points for $15...

WTF?

Assuming by 'box' you mean 50rds?

I thought all Wal-Marts had stopped selling handgun ammo years ago? I know I haven't been in one that seels anything beyond shotgun shells for awhile now, and even then it's an extremely limited selection.

Expect to see increases in the prices of all ammo. Metal is getting more and more expensive. Construction sites that are doing electrical work have taken to hiring armed guards to protect their copper, so on an so forth.

I buy almost all my handgun ammo at Wal*Mart... You have to ask for it at the sporting goods counter.

Nope. Certainly not all of them. If they've stopped up North, that's t3h suck, but the stores in Texas and Louisiana usually have a decent selection at pretty fair prices.

The r34l aw3som3 is that Wal-Marts are everywhere, so I can always find ammo when I need it.

Interesting. Maybe I was thinking K-Mart? Or maybe it was just that they pulled it off the shelves where anybody could grab a box. I dunno, could be I've gone mad as well.

TBH, I don't shop at Wal-Mart these days unless I absolutely have to.

That stinks... I remember not too long ago when I could get those Winchester white box 50 packs of 165 grain FMJ for $7.50, at Wal-Mart.

That's not a good price on Wolf's ammo at all, especially since it is Eastern Bloc ammo... Even Ammoman.com has it for that price, including shipping, and Natchez has it for less (even with shipping).

Do you have some place such as Academy Sports or Sportsman's Warehouse around you? They usually run a special on CCI Blazer (both aluminum and brass cased) ammo on a regular basis.

There are suckers who still buy ammo from stores?

Well, only when I want to shoot a few hundred rounds right now, rather than wait for a shipment or spend a week reloading, and when all I have on hand are Hydra-Shoks (), which are probably more cost effective for use on bad guys than cans and water jugs...

LOL! I wish.

I don't think I've qualified as a "youth" in 10 or 15 years... :clock:
