Clear this up. I'm getting 2 different points.

well he is a fool in thinking that biting is a valid and important technique.

But his form->throwing applications like in this vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPpBSn_F_wM&mode=related&search=

is much more interesting than form->striking application like this vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lzfCKaLS7w

well thats my opinion.

From what I know of him he seems to know his stuff when it comes to throwing. However, being that shuai chiao is concerned with throwing it would be natural that he would have much less experience against a competant ground grappler. So while he may not be correct about his assertion with biting vs an armbar, he's not a total fool.

Anyway, back on topic: no video, it didn't happen right? Let me pose this question, if there was video, would it change anyone's mind? I seriously doubt it [...].

Let's take, for example, this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUTNTqd9vN0). It shows a fight in which a guy uses flowery TCMA (the title says Southern Mantis, but it looks like Choy Li Fut to me) to knock down a loudmouth assailant. I can think of no more practical application of one's martial ability than this. However, we'd likely hear dismissals and qualifications of the form "that kid kind of sucks" (he does), "the other guy was terrible" (he was), and "that kid would get murdered in the UFC" (he would). The athletes in the UFC are professionals, not weekend warriors, and one should no more expect this kid to fare well in the UFC than one would expect a decent local side to be competitive in the World Cup. That said, this video is no less valid than one showing a youth league boxer or wrestler doing the same thing to an equally unskilled attacker.

I'm not a KF guy (I think I preface all my posts in this subforum with that) but have pretty decent youtube-fu .... I cannot vouch for the veracity of the claims made by the posters regarding these clips but there's some fair ones in here. Some have seen the light of day here before, some have not. Some look like BS, some do not. Anyways, have fun. This is an interesting thread :)

Kung fu vs 3 people?

what i like about this clip is not that this guy has "the deadly" but that he handles himself fairly well against 3 assailants. i have heard that he claims to have studied hung ga(r) and i can see some definite hung ga techniques in what he does (mostly chin gee sau.)

also he hits with enough power to knock one of the guys right off his feet, with no windup, it looks to be all hip powered, and uses palm strikes to do it.

do i think he could take on an MMA fighter? no.

did his kung fu protect him in this situation? YES.

I have to agree with Ming , the guy does what he does well, considering the goals of his exercise.

I liked how the cops stood around while that guys was attacked by three other guys. He did a nice job keeping those guys off of him. I always found kids like frankie always funny. He didn't even throw a decent haymaker. sad.

Instead of reposting the same tired old shitty clips over and over again, when searching youtube for kung fu try typing in sanshou, san da, swai/shuai jiao/chiao, and or lei tai (but not that overposted old 1980's one). Those tags will be more productive for finding actual fighting rather than forms and wannabe's.

Aside from the haymakers, that was not like choy li fut. The chambered hand with the extended bridge hand as a guard , and the weird hopping footwork are something else (I want to say hung gar, but I'm really not sure).

Actually, you are late we do have a thread for that. I separated these out because they were old and have street fighting videos.
