AMERCOM

I've enjoyed reading Bullshido for some time now . It's obviously the best martial arts forum around and there is much to be learned here. My thanks to the staff for accepting my registration and hello to all of the members. The only formal martial arts training i've had was in karate when i was a kid in junior high shool. I have been a student of american combatives for the past five years and i have decided to branch out to filipino boxing. I maintain an open mind when it comes to martial arts. Thanks again for accepting me into the forum.:icon_salu

Welcome aboard, AMERCOM! The Bullshido staff would welcome you personally, but the thing is they’re busy keeping the peace, so they’ve apointed me, a bot, to pat you on the back and assure you that in no way will you be harmed during your stay here at BS.net. Your views on the martial arts, your philosphy, maybe even your entire reason for being will be challenged, shattered, reorganized, melted down, and forged into something new and shiny, but we swear it will only hurt a little bit… at first.

Welcome. Don't mind the bots. So what's "filipino boxing" and why are you adding it? Cross training?

Thanks for the welcome and sorry about the late response.Training and work takes it's toll on my time. After having spent five solid years training in american combatives,my training partners and i decided things were getting a bit stale and decided to branch out. Filipino boxing appears to offer many of the attributes that we are interested in.The instruction is offered by Ron Balicki who appears to be connected to the Inosanto family and cold steel president Lynn Thompson.Filipino boxing was apparently developed during the heyday of bare knuckle boxing. The instruction includes basic on guard stances, foot work methods and drills, punching methods, multiple kicking kneeing and elbow techniques.Basic to advanced defense with emphasis on attacking and destroying incoming punches and kicks, using your fists, elbows, knees and feet. Also included are single and double hand trapping drills and kicking flow drills.Wrestling/submission grappling, joint lock combinations.Hope this helps to answer your questions.
