http://graciefighter.com/images/shim.gif http://graciefighter.com/images/shim.gif http://graciefighter.com/images/shim.gif Spike TV TUF fighter, Gabe Ruediger, has been barred from fighting in this Saturday's K-1/Pro Elite show. Ruediger was released from his UFC contract to pursue fighting elsewhere. He recently signed with the K-1 where he was to face Katsuhiko Nagata (2-1).
He was dropped from fighting on the card by California State Athletic Commissioner, Armando Garcia, who had recently watched Ruediger on The Ultimate Fighter TV show. Garcia cited the show in determining that Ruediger was "mentally unfit to fight". On the show Ruediger seemed to have suffered a mental breakdown after unsuccessfuly making the 155lbs. weight limit. This fight would have been at 161lbs. It is unclear if Ruediger will be able to fight in California if he is not cleared by a mental health specialist.

WTF. This commissioner made an opinion based on what was conveyed through an edited reality TV show?

Wow.

I mean, I don't think much of him, but that's pretty fucked up.

So what's the next thread gonna be? "Breaking News: Gabe Rudeiger commits suicide"?

Just.... damn.

The Athletic Commissioners from every state I've seen seem to be fucking morons.

So why do they still let Forrest Griffin fight?...isn't what he did after the Jardine fight basically the same type of "mental breakdown" as what Gabe did...?

What a fucking second. That decision is just plain fucking wrong!!!!

First we see a fucking a commissioner stripping Diaz of his win over Gomi because he "believes" pot helped him. And now we see another commissioner nixing Donut-boy because he "believes" he is mentally unfit (after watching a fucking reality TV)??????

I smell politics. :biblethum

ps... what did Griffin did after the Jardine fight? Me no know. :icon_scra

Gotsta remember, its California. Politicians there think TV and the movies are reality and the rest of us live in a pale reflection of that reality.

of course it's politics. I'll say it before ICY - this smacks of blacklisting.

It sure does. I mean how can you make such a judgement about someones mental health from an edited reality show, and from a person who has stated that he was just trying to make his cut dramatic because he thought it would get him more attention.

It would be good to know how you become the commish in California. I bet it has to do with family connections or money--probably that way in a lot of states.

Ha! looks like he is getting the attention he wanted. maybe the next ultimate fighter will be more about mma. and less about dramatics.
