Anyone watch Pros vs. Joes on Spike after UFC Fight Night? After watching all three guys - all over 6 ft, all over 200 lbs - get thrown around like mannequins I'd say there'll be three new MMA gym memberships starting.
Watching these guys is awesome, they all see themselves as athletes and clearly they're in an area that is so far out of their experience. It was like watching a take-down and tap demo with compliant partners.
Will repeat Friday, Sat, Sun, Weds on Spike if you're interested.

cheers

There's a video of it HERE (http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=50502)

The best part was watching the other pros, who've probably never seen the UFC and were all much bigger than Coture, shaking in fear. I'll bet this earned some respect for real grappling with the average sports fan.

Michael Irvin: "I wouldn't go in there (the cage) without a baseball bat".

Of course, the announcer thought a headlock from under side control was a fucking "offensive move".

My favorite part was watching the special forces close combat instructor work the Deadly on Randy!

No no, the funniest part of that guy was him talking to Big John and actually telling him "You know, I"m a close quarters combat instructor." I can only imagine what was going through Big John's head.

I like how Randy said "You know I am not really even a submission guy"

I also like the looks on the Joes faces as you could see they really didn't want to be there.

Or when he was talking to the other pros in the locker room afterwards and was like " ..And I'm not even 'submissions' guy really..."

And the one guy in the Intros at the start of the show who recognized him and was "Oh ****" :BangHead:

And no one really tried talking smack to him - go figure

EDIT - D'oh - was typing at same time. Ignore - actually, ****, this just looks like I summarized Goju - Joe's posts - ignore the whole thing.

Please don't confuse an E-4 (I think, anyway...picture was a bit fuzzy) reservist with a Special Forces soldier.

Hopefully all the systema/ Krav guys watch this.

US Army CQC is largely comprised of jiu jitsu, no? Where do systema or krav come into play?

I think I also heard them say army reserves, not special forces.

It was army reserves close combat. Now, lets be honest, that guy was MUCH better than the first. He failed in his attempt to use a wrist lock and things like this... but he TRIED. Admittedly it was still like randy was playing with a child but really, he didn't back off too much either. Compared to the first guy lol.. considering he has what is essentially elementary Jiu Jitsu I don't tink he did TOO bad.

At the start though every time he tried to slump onto couture he failed which I think is why he got owned so much, anyhow though... funniness
