I can see the need to humble or even potentially weed out assholes. In my case I wasn't bragging or boasting about my background or trying to come off as hot ****. Quite the opposite. I was asked if I had previous martial arts experience when I signed up, and I was truthful. I believe my exact answer was "Yeah, I have a black belt in a couple of types of karate, but no grappling experience so that's not going to matter here."

When I got asked that I said no. I correctly assumed my 2 months of aikido had taught me nothing that would remotely help me.

Most people I've talked to in the high-white to high-blue range pretty much agree that RNC is pretty hard to sink in properly on someone with enough experience to know how to resist it. Especially because it's such a 'high profile' move. It's best to develop some other rear mount attacks for when your RNC fails. Eventually you'll start catching it on people who are newer than you and you need some place to transition to.

Very cool. That'll be something for him to revisit when he's got some more flight hours on him. Sidepunch is new to me though. :icon_bigg Gonna have to try it.
