Is there any reputable Jeet Kune Do instructors in Maryland? Someone who was actually certified or something?

I have to admit that I'm biased toward Guro Dan Inosanto's approach to JKD and to martial arts generally ("JKD Concepts"), since I train under one of his instructors. With that disclaimer I will suggest you check out the following school:

http://www.martialartskoncepts.com/index.htm

I've never trained there, but it looks pretty cool from the website. There's a pretty sizable contingent of Bullshido folks from MD ... perhaps someone on this board has trained there or knows someone who has.

The Inosanto Academy website (http://inosanto.com/instructors.php) lists all instructors certified by Guro to teach JKDC. A number of Maryland instructors are listed besides the one who operates the school I mentioned above.

You might also check out www.defend.net, a site maintained by the head instructor of a JKD school in Texas. A number of very knowledgeable JKD instructors and practitioners post there.

Lastly, you might want to check out this school:

http://mdthaiboxing.com/

It's primarily a Muay Thai school, but it offers JKD instruction as "cross-training". It should be noted that most JKDC instructors under Guro teach a kickboxing style that is heavily influenced by, if not essentially the same as, Muay Thai, so this combination of arts is not at all surprising.

Best of luck with your training whatever direction you decide to go. I'd be interested in your opinion on any schools you decide to try out.

P.S.: Not to give you a hard time, but this post should probably have been made to "Newbietown" or "YMAS"...I say that only for your future reference, to help you avoid becoming the recipient of "love" from the administrators or senior members of this site...:love3: :violent1:  :5bullwhip :love4: :sex:

I've seen the Asian woman instructor(Xiang Jin Yao) from Martial Arts Koncepts at an Inosanto seminar. She's very nice, very helpful, and punches and kicks like a truck. I think you'd do well there, if you're close by.

Mike Krivka used to run the KB program at Yamasaki BJJ...

As far as I know these guys do mostly drills and conditioning, not competitive MT, although I think some of the instructors are (former?) competitors...

Also, look into http://baltimoremartialarts.com/new/Home.html, my BJJ gym, they have a bunch of interesting programs...

Thanks for the links, I will check out those Muay Thai gyms after I finish my BJJ training. I am going to start training BJJ with Julius Park who worked with Lloyd Irvin and the Gracies.

If you're training with Julius, I'll see you tomorrow. Introduce yourself man!

I won't be starting just yet. I want to start tomorrow (Saturday) but I need to get some school stuff out of the way first so I can fully utilize my 30 day free trial. I'll probably be starting in December with my friend. It won't be hard to recognize us. We'll be the two Asian kids with dyed hair.
