Sorry, but someone shouldn't even get to 7th or 8th dan unless they've dedicated their life to the art, and you can't dedicate your life to 4 arts. That guy is bullshit.

Proficiency in 4 arts is one thing. Mastery of 4 arts is faerie-world fantasy.

Think about the arts that he holds the degrees in. His original art is Yudo. This is not so far from Hapkido and Aikido. Hapkido and Aikido are sister arts. Basically all three deal in the same areas of throws locks and traps. Then you have him doing kickboxing. So throw some forms in and you have TKD.

His claims are not too far out there.

A total of 29 Dans. Gimme a break.

I've gone to find myself. If I'm not back before I return, leave me there.

Miguksaram

29? I don't follow. Are you adding up all the dans together? That makes no sense. There is mostly a small philosophical difference in the arts mentioned. Aikido and Hapkido stem from Daito-ryu jujitsu, Judo is from jujitsu. So where is the problem in someone learning a base art and then learning the other arts.

If he is proficient in Yudo, he would be proficient in HKD as well.

Yeah but to attain 8th dans in all these arts? To reach 8th dan in most styles requires you raise up many black belts and give enormous amounts of time and effort promoting and improving the schools martial art. An 8th dan means you have dedicated a good portion of your life to a paticular school. He was able to do this for 4 different schools? Give me a fucking break. That is outlandish!

An 8th dan means you've attained mastery not just
proficiency. Like i said you can spend your life mastering an art and be proficient in a few others.

Choke, in a perfect world your theory would hold true. However, many of these are done by TIR's (Time In Rank) nothing more and nothing less.

Don't get me wrong, I am just saying it is not out realm of possibility. For all I know he could be a huge scam artist. However, there is still only one way to tell. Go meet the man and find out.

He's in my neck of the woods. I've heard of him before and know that he had legitimate TKD rank under Gen Hong Hi Chi. Let me do some calling around about the other ranks, I'll write if I find anything interesting but don't wait for me:)
