Just wanted to stop in and say hi. I'm out in Surprise, Arizona. Not into any art yet, but been looking to get into BJJ.

Surprise? You live in a town called "Surprise"? Was the founder a gay hippy, or what?

who isnt looking into getting into BJJ if it is your first martial art i would suggest doing something else first, then later do BJJ

Is your plan to help him appreciate BJJ more when he finally stops wasting time and just trains in it like he should have in the first place?

There's no reason not to do BJJ first...

none I can justify personally at least. BJJ is great if you find a good gym, good luck with that.

Depends on what he wants to get out of this. Real MMA is the way to go no matter what. But if he's interested in more of a self defense type thing I'd say go MMA > stand up > grappling.

I've been around for a long time and from what I've seen nothing can compare to BJJ.
