I actually like this one, so I posted it. Some of the grappling is questionable, I admit. The white uniforms on all the attackers is funny.

and here's a link to various Kenpo vids from a club in Houston (I guess).

I thought the ground grappling, as well as some of the throws, were pretty good. The multiple attackers and anti-weapons techniques were questionable, but the guy seems to be pretty skilled anyway,

I thought the tech when the guy goes into high guard was fucked up. He pulled his short and the other guy fell down. Its trying to be all thing to all people when it should just stick to what its good at. And that quasi indian music was also fucked up.

The guy seems to be reasonably skilled, but the use of zombies as ukes in MA demonstrations is unethical IMO.

The guy in the video is Martin Wheeler, one of the more gifted Parker Kenpo guys. He has since left American Kenpo for Systema. Under Vlad's tutelage he has learned to knock people down without contact from several feet away and heal them by laying his hands upon their injuries .

The criticisms of compliancy and choreographed defenses in the video are really more a criticism of Parker lineage kenpo. Any system trained primarily with forms, sets and prearranged techniques is going to have the same weaknesses.

Sigh... athletic talent and critical thinking obviously don't always go together.

Can any of the kenpo guys tell me why in a lot of your movements it seems like you are slaping your own bodies? is it to keep the rythem? or is there some other reason? see the clip.

excuse me? is there something I am missing here? are you talking about no touch knock downs.... if so, good one.

I thought the clips were pretty good, I mean a lot of the attacks were set up and thus BS. I thought the throws and the groundwork was actually pretty damn good. All in all, it was a good demo

God that looks horrible, but it looks like he is trying to ridgehand , chop, palm and other open hand strikes with out actually making contact. Not what we do.
