M Night Shyamalan's 'The Village' is true!

A small town in the Northeast really was stuck back in the 1800's! They are now just starting to make their first awkward steps into the 21st century.

Hear's my fav.
In '82 in waitsfield vt. the school board ruled that the four adopted steinberg children (two american indian, one vietnamese, one haitian )could not attend public school because the steinbergs had not yet recieved their american citizenship after six years because mr steinberg was spending too much time in canada. School taxes in waitsfield are collected solely from property taxes which the steinbergs had been paying all along.
The entire school board was voted out in the next election.
The governor ruled that all children are eligible for public education.
I guess it does take a village. At least it takes a village to take the trash out.
