From search engine as usual, though there is also a link, requiring membership for BusinessWire.

Amp'd Mobile, the first fully integrated mobile entertainment company, announced today an exclusive partnership with the unparalleled Ultimate Fighting Championship(R) (UFC(R)). Amp'd will become the official wireless sponsor for the competition and will offer a variety of exclusive wireless content to its subscribers when the company launches later this year.

Amp'd will exclusively showcase live UFC events, including weigh-ins, locker rooms and Octagon ring cameras, of this premier mixed martial arts competition in the wireless space for the first time. The Amp'd UFC channel will feature exclusive 3D mobile games, blogs, branded "skins" for the Amp'd Live user interface and archived "best-of" video clips featuring such great UFC fighters as Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Matt Hughes, Rich Franklin and Andrei Arlovski, among others. Amp'd subscribers will also get unique wallpapers, ringtones and screensavers to bring the flavor of the UFC ring to the palm of their hand. The branded UFC channel will be found in the Sports section of Amp'd Live in the user interface on all handsets.

"The UFC was one of our 'must have' brands for Amp'd and we're excited to include them in the growing array of category-leading brands offered 'only on Amp'd,'" said Seth Cummings, vice president of wireless content and Internet services. "Complementing a rich catalog of the 'best of' UFC fights with exclusive live coverage of UFC events covered in the unique Amp'd style will truly exploit the power of our 3G service, handset and wireless features."

UFC, whose popularity continues to grow among Amp'd Mobile's youth and young professional demographic, is a mixed martial arts competition between highly skilled professional fighters who utilize the disciplines of jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, and other forms in live events to determine the ultimate fighting champion. "Ultimate Fighters(TM)" are among the best-trained and conditioned athletes in the world hailing from such diverse countries as the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Japan, Russia, Holland and England. All UFC fighters have previous combat sports experience and many are World or Olympic champions, training up to six hours a day or more in preparation for an event.

"In extending our events and fighters into wireless, we looked for a partner who could offer an unparalleled experience that was wrapped around the UFC brand," said Dana White, president, Ultimate Fighting Championship. "Amp'd Mobile's UFC channel will be populated with the most compelling content we can possibly offer in mobile and provides a perfect complement to our other Pay-Per-View, DVD and TV distribution platforms. We're excited to welcome Amp'd into the Octagon."

Since Zuffa, LLC purchased the UFC brand in 2001, UFC events have become the fastest growing category in pay-per-view sports. UFC DVD's are also consistently among the best-selling DVD's in the sports category.

"As the exclusive wireless sponsor of UFC, we're ecstatic to have a presence in the octagon of a sport that's exploding within our core target audience," said Don McGuire, chief marketing officer, Amp'd Mobile. "By being able to introduce UFC fans to Amp'd at the events and then extend the UFC experience to Amp'd Mobile's wireless handsets, we're creating an ideal marketing partnership."

In addition to an Amp'd branded presence in the UFC Octagon, the company will bring this action-packed, intense combat sport to life for mobile users with a wide range of distinctive content designed specifically for broadband wireless (3G) including:

-- Exclusive UFC video (live and catalog)
-- Coverage of UFC competitions
-- Best of UFC fights
-- Behind-the-scenes video including locker room interviews and
other post-event footage
-- Interviews with fighters and family members
-- Octagon cams
-- Weigh-ins
-- Fighter press conferences
-- 3D wireless games featuring UFC music, logos and fighters
-- UFC blog -- staffers and fighters will bring you Octagon-side with
behind-the-scenes photo and video blogs
-- UFC-branded wallpapers, ringtones and screensavers

Amp'd Mobile is slated to launch in Q4 2005.

That has to be the first time ever Ive actually turned up something I can use for work when looking through the search engine out of personal interest! Anyway, aside from professional involvement, the article is intriguing to me for its indication that the UFC and MMA by association is becoming more acceptable. Spike TV has definitely helped with The Ultimate Fighter, and this mobile content investment by Ampd Mobile could well enhance MMAs growing reputation even further.
