I have that tape too: Zuijiuquan or "Drunkard's Fist", as taught by Sifu Freddy Wong. Sifu Wong demonstrates the 8 Immortal Gods forms. I gotta say though, for someone with his experience, his technique in the Miss Ho form could have been better. Still, it's well worth the price to see someone with a direct lineage to the founders through his uncle perform.

No no no, mine doesn't even have a cool backstory. The founder of our style was flying to America to work with some old students, and the night before he went out and got completely wasted with some Marines. The combination of jet-lag, and a hangover turned him into an uncoordinated mess when it was time to shoot.

8 immortal form is the form presented, perfected and basically pieced together from various old manuscripts by Leung Ting (yes, the same guy who started the Wing Tsun movement in europe). Zui Jiu Quan or Zui Quan (drunken boxing) is a totally different style to the 8 immortals.

The 8 immortals is based on the movements of each of the 8 mythological characters in Chinese legend - all who liked their alcohol a fair bit (hey, if you were immortal and couldn't get alcohol poisoning then wouldn't you?). Believe it or not, the 8 immortals is not purely demonstration but does have some useful application although I strongly recommend using something else if you run up against a 120kg bouncer in a nightclub.

Zui Jiu Quan is a kung fu form that immitates the movements of a drunk person to throw off the opponent. It is a wushu style that has application. The user faces west and strikes east, falls to the ground only to spring upwards with a kick, wavers from side to side but moves forward. It's a great style but...wow... you need muscles of steel all over and some incredible flexibility.

What the hell is with this rampant necromancy lately? It's like some virulent epidemic of forum necrophilia.
