What MA magazines do most ppl check out here?

I used to read BB mag, but they will post ANYTHING, no matter how stupid it is!! They also fill their pages with advertising.

I think Grappling mag has some good articles, but still full of advertising.

This next magazine, I'm gonna sound like im trying to sell it or something, but I still wanna say this. I got an ULTIMATE ATHLETE magazine the other day, and it totally kicks ass!!! LOTS of good articles, fighter profiles (the one i got had Carlos Newton, never realized how cool he was), and it WASN'T FULL OF ADVERTISING!!!! There was some at the beginning, and then a few pages at the end, but none in the middle of articles (ei: Black belt mag). Also, UA doesn't skip all over the mag, you dont have to read the last paragraph of an article in the last pages of the mag, Articles complete themselves in linear fashion then move on to the next article. This last part is really cool, I fucken hate having to search the whole Mag to find the end of certain articles.

I know I sound like I'm advertising, but I just wanted to tell my thoughts on MA mags.
Check out Ultimate Athlete, its a good read and a better buy then BBmag or grappling.

Lately, I find that most magazines are total bullshit. Recently, in a popular Kung Fu magazine, they has a phoney "master" on the cover. What a bunch of horseshit. By the way, the guy was about 28 years old. Not usually the age of a bonifide master.

I find that most MA mags are for either masturbation material (Grappler Magazine anyone?)or to SELL one particular style or school.

Although it's a often over the top in it's psuedo-intellectual style, there is a lot of genuine research and well thought out discussion in the quarterly released Journal of Asian Martial Arts.

Also a really good online journal is EJMAS: http://www.ejmas.com/ It's run by Joseph Svinth and has articles from such luminaries as Don Draeger and Robert W. Smith.

I read BB, TKDTimes, and Asian Journal of Martial Arts. Every now and then I will pick up Inside Kung Fu.

I subscribe to BB (I gotta check out the new picture add w/ Elisa Au-maybe she'll get into shoot fighting and get rid of that gi!) and read anything the news stand has. There's good information in the Kung Fu mags, though some of the stuff is off the wall. As in some of BB, though articles like the one on Helio and the history of ma's are good and keep me paying.

I like the links and info on other sources, online or print. Thank you.

According to 'Grappling Magazine' - they are 'The #1 Magazine of Mixed Martial Arts' -Just curious - what other mixed martial art mags are out there?? Definately tons of advertising in the magazine.

BTW, hwilst I think "Stick weight" is funny, the proper term of your weight would be "Straw weight" (that's a real weight class) lol. <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
