Charkaoui takes stand for first-time

Adil Charkaoui says he was arrested because he fits the stereotype of a terrorist, a Muslim who knows martial arts. The 31-year-old Montrealer is on the stand today, testifying in his own defence, for the first time since he was detained nearly two years ago. The Federal Court Judge has rejected three bail requests from Charkaoui's legal team. CSIS accuses Charkaoui of being a sleeper agent for Al Qaida. In his testimony Charkaoui denied having any ties to terrorists and the allegation that he spent time in a terrorist training camp.

I've read that most training camps are for insurgents/soldiers, rather than terrorist purposes.

btw, that's from a Canadian site. It's rather annoying that they don't list the locale and such in the article.
