Last night my best friend Red and I sat around and tested my Holiday Martini recipies for the family Christmas. Here is what I think I am going with:

1 oz Vanilla Vodka
1 oz Creme de Cocoa
1/4 cup ice
1 soft mint (the ones that have toothpaste like consistency)
1 Marichino Cherry
Powdered sugar

Line martini glass with powdered sugar, place mint in bottom

Shake vodka, creme and ice together, strain into martini glass, pouring over mint but careful to not disturb sugar.

Pith cherry ( I like the plastic swords) and put in glass and serve

results:

Visually pleasing as the liqour is clear as glass when it isn't moving and you can watch the mint begin to dissolve

Taste is sweet and smooth

Does have a little bite to it for the aftertaste.

Enjoy, and please leave comments.

How can something that doesn't contain gin, vermouth, or an olive be considered a martini?

My martini recipe:

Put 2 oz of gin in a martini glass
Wave a bottle of vermouth in the general direction of the glass
Open a can of olives and eat one
Down the gin

Repeat as necessary until imbiber starts composing blues songs

Sounds good. I'll actually give it a try if I get the cash to buy the ingredients. (That's stuff I'd use eventually anyway.)

My regular vodka martini:

1oz Bombay Saphire (no other kind of gin is acceptable)
1oz Kamchatka Vodka, chilled (comes in the plastic bottle because you know you will be too fucked up to carry it without dropping)
Vermouth

Pour Gin in glass and coat it, then dump gin out. Pour in vodka. Hold vermouth open near rim and whisper it in.

Drink

I hate olives.
