if you have poor vision ... be careful when you spar ...

you are more vulnerable to eye damage ... trauma can cause retina tears or detachment ...

just found that out today ... need to see a retina specialist sometime this week ...

especially if your hit with an eye gouge/poke/tear, that DEFINITLY would not be good
the solution?
dont spar people who punch/hit you directly in the eyeball

Best of luck to you.

One place you don't want to skimp or be hasty, is with selecting an eye surgeon.

it doesnt really matter if they hit you in the eye or not ... though that would be worse ...

blunt force trauma can be sufficient ...

I hope you will be okay.

But in future just make sure you don't punch to the face, just the body.

I wear glasses and I know that sometimes in Shooto my eyes feel a bit strange after a standup to clinch to ground to submission sequence.

Particuarly if I am on the losing side of things. . . .

Geez... I thought the feeling was just normal. :(

Yeah maybe I shouldn't have them open whem my opponent is rubbing my face on the mat . . .

I wear contacts and every once in a while I lose one on the mat.
Apart from that I have no problems.

Eh, that sucks a lot man. Hope your eye(s) return back to normal. Though thanks for the warning.

I once got kicked JUST ABOVE the eye. I actually got a little cut over the eye. Nothing came of it, though.

And I am nearsighted.

In general if you are nearsighted 20/200 or worse than that puts you at risk retinal or vitreous detachments if a direct blow to the eye occurs. The solution is either dont spar or wear headgear with a protctive face shield.
