I used to hit alot of...well...windows, doors, people, trees, walls, poles...etc etc...and now my hands go numb every now and then, or whenever I clench a fist, they make this awful snap* crackle* pop sound.
I've tried taking glucosamine and condroitin for the joints, but I think it's the bones and not the synovial part of the joints or maybe even the circulation because of the numbness??
anyway...I have these sort of bulbous knobs on my middle knuckles that seem to move freely of the knuckle, I'm pretty sure it's some sort of calcium deposit...is there anything I can do, or am I just royally fucked?
I could never play the piano anyway...oh well.:(

Shouldn't you maybe go see a Doctor?

my doctor's a quack. I'd be better of self diagnosing.

I've managed to acheive a "slipped subcapsular phemoral capital epiphisis" three times in my life so far. What I'm told is where the ball and socket joint of your hip is .. the ball stays in place, and the leg bone seperated from the ball. As a result I've been diagnosed with "chronic recurrent synovitis" .. all I know is it hurts on cold and/or wet rainy days. My instructor told me about this stuff called "Biosil" which I purchased on HIS advice and since then, haven't suffered at all. I told my folks about it, who just have the joint pains associated with aging, and they too, are pain free now (in this regard).

Take that "advice" for whatever you'd like. I don't even know if it's available in Brazil.

good to know...especially since I live in the USA, not Brazil.

This could be true.

See another doctor.

WTF are you punching windows, walls, doors, poles or trees for? Are you thinking impaired? KNOCK THAT **** OFF!

on a sympathic note, I had a bump on on my wrists that felt really hard (thought it was a calcium doposit or something, dislocated bone maybe) and it turned out to be a ganglion cyst. nothing to do but pop it. not sure if you can get them by your knuckles, but I imagine they occure wherever there's a joint.

I think he means it in a Darwinist sort of way.

Besides, I doubt his psychiatrist would be able to help him with his sore hands.

definitely, consult a physician.

I have been disturbed by a pain I've had all day in my right middle finger(The bottom two joints, not the top one.) but it sounds like your problem is much worse so I feel stupid even mentioning it. Ihad class last night but I don't remember hurting it. I just woke up this morning and it was there.I hurts when I initially close it to make a fist but it hurts worse when I open my fist. Two weeks ago it was my right ankle and last week it was my left wrist. (neither of which are back to normal yet.) I must be falling apart. Maybe I started to late in life to start this stuff.

Just how old are you? I doubt it becomes much of a problem until you reach the time when natural arthritis and bones and joint disorders kick in.
Maybe you just need a better warm up period before your classes.
