JKDChick (http://www.mcdojo.com/pop_profile.asp?mode=display&id=25)'s latest movie review (http://www.mcdojo.com/article_read.asp?id=106) brings together the first Lethal Weapon, with her insights onto martial arts and the movie biz as a whole:

In the eighties and nineties technology caused another change: being able to erase wires meant being able to do things that weren't physically possible. This was used to great and appropriate effect in The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon but I don't consider it fighting. It's stunt work. It's irritating, since weedy jerk-offs like Tom Cruse can now look as capable as true athlete/warriors like Ray Park (Darth Maul from Episode One; Toad from X-Men).

Also, Dochter (http://www.mcdojo.com/pop_profile.asp?mode=display&id=531) submitted this article (http://www.mcdojo.com/article_read.asp?id=105) with his thoughts on calling an art a "Mixed Martial Art":

The term “mixed martial art” as I can figure it out is due to the early calling of open fighting competitions being called mixed martial art competitions. This refers simply to multiple styles meeting in competition. Eventual the more successful people were those who understood or had trained in multiple styles.

Don't forget to rate them and add your feedback.

You left out the Akira Kurosawa films of the 40s and 50s - like Roshomon, The Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Sanjuro and the Samurai series.

12/10/2002 11:50pm,
I left out tonnes of stuff. That thing could have been 5-6 times longer. I'm thinking of expanding it, doing an article about each decade and/or art and/or culture.

Really, it was supposed to be about trapping.

Great work JKDChick. If you are gonna do more movie themed articles...do one on all the wonderful Jim "Enter the Dragon" Kelly flicks that came in the 70's.

12/11/2002 2:33am,
I'm aching now to do an expanded version of this -- I wonder if I can sell someone on an article or book ... hmmm ...

Omar, I can't respond back on the "ratings" link for my article, but yes, your final conclusion is correct.

Every damn paragraph could have been its own article. Some paragraphs, every sentence. It's driving me crazy.
