I had not planned on it.
But thanks to you it seems I will be watching oh ... 12 hours and some change of some Judo in the next week.

Nice call.

It's really nice that people take the streams and post it right to Youtube.

Thanks for posting those up. I was trying to find my student's matches at the Quebec Open last night (it was streamed live). Found one match, the others were not up in the archives yet.

*edit* I see they have been uploaded now...

didn't watch yet, but let me guess... either the israeli athletes stayed home or they got harassed.

If you know what happened last year, I think it was the former. Who would want to go through that bullshit again?

it's almost as if countries that can't put aside politics and act like actual *hosts* shouldn't be allowed to host international sporting events... but no one's putting me in charge of the IJF any time soon, so that won't change.

Post pictures?

DiCraprio is his favorite actor. Also, on-topic (for the subforum) content warning for the lot of us, and this should probably be in traditional forums, or better, YMAS.

I get it now. The MMA forum seemed the best choice for Judo competition videos: "Mixed Martial Arts, Kickboxing, Grappling, Boxing, Wrestling, Judo, and more". I thought there were actual Judo forums but I can't find them. I can't find a way to move the posts but I promise no more goofy pics outside of the comedy section.

Yeah and it's not just sporting events either, they pull this for beauty pageants and other competitions where they have rules about being seen or having pictures taken with Israeli competitors. It was nice that the IJF fought for them to enter the country in 2015 and compete under the IJF flag, but who the hell would put up with that bullshit a 2nd time around, basically "your flag isn't welcome here". Winning gold was not enough to have their own country commemorated. The Israelis can easily boycott these events and still clean up all over the world, and that's what makes the UAE stand out as the backwards country they are. And they're not alone. I do wish that other countries would stand up and boycott the UAE, but let's face it, until they're the ones being discriminated against, they'll just kind of shake their heads in disapproval but show up anyway.
