Lets pretend some of the readers are old and retarded and don't have facebook plz k thnx.

Now what is so weird about white dudes dancing around a hotel with drum sticks pretending to fence with a foil or epee? I mean I am no expert but that sure the hell wasn't short blade methodology being employed. Right? I mean there is plenty of room for error on my end ... I am pretty sloshed tonight.

As soon as you map out which rocks said people live under, besides I'm pretty sure you don't need Facebook to see a Facebook profile.

Guys(and gals) poking each other with drum sticks in some sort of fencing... No nothing weird about that at all.

Defending their technique in the video comments as solid. A little odder. Sober up and then think about it some.

They'd probably do alright in the inter-office pen fencing league. Lids left on for safety, of course.

They are apparently confusing painful with serious.

I'm disappointed. I was expecting something like this:

I am wondering if the ladies in short skirts and high heels aren't at least half the reason there are so many people there fencing with Zildjian and Vic Firth.

That was terrible weapons sparring.

I like what they are trying to do but it is obvious to anyone with Pokey Stabby training they don't know what the **** they are doing nor is what they are doing based on anything historical ... that I can recognize anyways. I am not drunk anymore nor I am no WMA historian... but that still looks like real shitty foil and epee work with a drumstick.

Is "Venetion school" a misspelling for "Venetian school"?
[looks at the facebook page: apparently yes]

Mi question is: how historically accurate is this stuff? Did really exist a well estabilished venetian stiletto school? Did they have a vocational high school for murderers too?
I've heard also of an apulian school of knife fighting and a neapolitan one too (both based on supposed secret schools of the mobs) but I sorta doubt this kind of school has a real historical basis.

EDIT

Also looking at the video the kind of parryes they do doesn't make sense without a fencind hilt, so they are clearly doing something wrong.

Aww...they have a mild boo boo. Super serious.

Get some dang fencing masks!

I think you are all being unfair on these guys. For those of us in the UK who can't go out with a firearm or most knives to defend ourselves, having a drumstick for protection would make a whole load of sense.

I'm all for doing this kind of hardcore training.

No.

Probably is completely ahistorical.

Interestingly, in 1711, a member of the House of Venier draw his stiletto against another dude in Piazza San Marco. As this weapon was totally banned, said Venier was stripped of his noble condition and banished from the Republic.

So what you're saying is that Europeans have a long history of acting like bitches.

That's what I was thinking when I saw the thread title.

Did have a couple of reasonably attractive women at the first...
