Hi! Welcome to Bullshido. So, what are you looking for? Striking, grappling or both? Fitness, self-defense, competition? With a little info I bet we can steer you in the right direction.

There's no better way to start than to jump right in!

There's a group of martial artists from a variety of arts that get together and do a seminar in Kingston every year. (http://www.kingstonkicks.ca/blog/kingston-kicks-2012).

It would be a good start to participate in a variety of martial arts and see what you like. I know several of the instructors and enjoy training with them. Unless work conflicts I will be there as well.

I don't really remember how many of the instructors are local, but there should be some. You can take a look at the names and see if you recognize any of them from your area. If you're interested in any of the arts taught it might be fun to check it out.

I am interested in taking up kickboxing, Muay Thai. Are there any reputable gyms in my area?

This may be good http://www.martialartsaxis.com/. MMA gym with Parkour to boot.

http://www.grizzlygym.com/instructors.html Different, but interesting. Seems pretty heavy on the Muay Thai, which is cool. Actually, they've also got a BJJ brown belt (which they claim to be the highest ranked in Kingston.)
