Hi there!
I just moved to Lougheed station in Burnaby, Greater Vancouver Area.
Wondering if you can suggest some good schools of MA somewhere near maybe? I'm not tied to some certain MA style, it could be almost anything. Though I'd like something closer to reality.
Thanks in advance guys!

This place offers Kyokushin, Kickboxing and BJJ.

Lougheed Station, right? Fitness 2000 is really close and as you can see in their schedule, they offer kickboxing and BJJ.

There is also this boxing club near Holdom Station. They have their own website but it's not working for me, so Google would be your friend.

Those are all in Burnaby.

P.S. If you are willing to travel, New Westminster (Lougheed is right on the border though) also has quite a bit of MMA schools.

Thank you for your response!
Yeah, budomixedMA is pretty far from me, though I still wrote them.
Fitness2000 sucks big time. They are placed right near me, so I went there right away. But their prices are high (around 140$ a month) and the fitness center stuff is rude and unfriendly. I went there twice and both times the stuff was pretty bad.
I already found also Burnaby Boxing at Holdom, was at their place. It's pretty nice place, very authentic one might say. But I'd rather want something with using legs and maybe elbows/knees as well...
Do you know any exact websites of some MMA in New West? I'm trying to find something with Google, didn't find much yet...

From Lougheed, BUDO is actually just 30-40 minutes by transit. That's pretty far by some people's standards though.

Anyway, New West schools:

Also, I would suggest that you look up Zen MMA New Westminster on facebook, though their page has not been updated for quite awhile.

Gracie Barra Burnaby is at Loughheed. John is an awesome instructor (I haven't had Gary as an instructor, but he's certainly solid on the mat and will do horrible things to you with your own gi). [http://www.gbburnaby.com/]

If you're willing to take the Skytrain a little bit, you could of course get to the larger GB Vancouver club, which has the benefit of a very packed schedule so that pretty much anyone should be able to find some classes that work. (I train here.) [gbvan.ca/]

There's also Burnaby Judo Club, which I keep being told is among the very best in western Canada -- and it's judo, so it's cheap: I think that, including the provincial fees and so on, the monthly fee averages out to just over $40. It's about a five minute walk from the Metrotown Skytrain station. (I train here, too.) [http://www.burnabyjudoclub.ca]

battusai (http://www.bullshido.net/forums/member.php?u=85880), thanks for the links one more time. It's not like I'm lazy to go somewhere, but I spent about 2 hours every day in transit, and spent 40mx2 more is pretty annoying.
I wrote to those guys in your links asking about prices. Will see.
Petter (http://www.bullshido.net/forums/member.php?u=31647), thanks also for the links. Yeah, I saw already both of it, but I'd like to have some punching/kicking techniques as well, not just plain 'floor cuddling' like in judo/bjj

2 hours? Yeah, I get how 1 hour and 20 minutes more could be more annoying lol

Burnaby is a world class judo dojo. Tell Mark Nariwa or Curtis Petland that Judoratt sent you. There is also Yuki Yokozowa/Petland 2004 Oly Silver medalist. Vancouver has a geat judo community.

Highest ranked BJJer in that city. Besides, by learning there you will learn judo throws and better groundwork.

Sorry, Langley is too far from me, it's a different city.
