Sad to report that renowned Hollywood swordmaster Bob Anderson, who staged classic sword fights for The Princess Bride, Highlander and many other movies, has passed away, aged 89.

I worked closely with Bob many years ago and although our professional approaches were quite radically different, I liked and respected him at the personal level. He was truly one of the greatest and last of the Old School.

May he rest in peace.

Saw a documentary of him a year or so ago - funny to think I was a fan of his work (having seen so many of the sword fights he choreographed) but didn't really know who he was.

Thanks all, I learned something there. Mr Anderson was clearly a Great Talent. RIP indeed.

Darth in Empire still gives me chills.

I still love when he "disarmed" Luke. Such a skillful looking move.

This saddens me, but he leaves a wonderful legacy in his best work. Thank you, Mr. Anderson.
