James Toney sez: http://fighthype.com/pages/content10995.html

Also, Toney once fought an entire fight with a ripped bicep, so it would have sickened him seeing Hopkins give up like that last night.

IMO, thou there is a grain of truth in there, Chad shouldn't have 'rassled' him in the first place.

Toney always talks ****. Hopkins would have continued if he was given the option, but wanted to use his (legitimate) injury as a stalling tactic. It backfired on him.

This should still be ruled NC since it's apparent within the rules that a TKO can only happen due to a punch.

Who cares what Toney thinks.
He 's an MMA fighter now, he's too busy working on his ground game , which is ' Good ' according to him, to know what's going on in Boxing anymore.

Oh common, can you name any other MMA fighter with such world class accolades in boxing?

Ray Mercer.

Mercer was excellent but nowhere near Toney's accomplishments.

The difference is, Mercer actually beat someone relatively significant under MMA rules. And he did it within 9 seconds.

Aha, which is irrelevant in terms of boxing accolades. Read that post again please.

If we're talking about the MMA fighter with the best possible accolades in boxing, it's Muhammad Ali. I'm particularly alluding to his fight with Antonio Inoki.

Now, if we're talking about the dude who's had the best success in MMA with the best accolades in boxing then it's Ray Mercer hands down.

The boxer with the highest accolades in MMA is Anderson Silva :P

That wasn't even close to stardard MMA rules. So it doesn't count.

Well yes, that is true :)

:Problem solved. Instead of people turning on the TV for one big superfight, have them tune in for two or three -- and let it be known that anything can happen. Sometimes you'll see art, sometimes fireworks, sometimes controversy.

I don't know about that, 32 rounds of boxing is a lot to take in in one sitting. I think they should have more 4-6 fights with prospects on the undercard and put fights up more often. These undercard fights that have been put up recently should have been their own events.

Franky Botha FTW!

Okay, fine. The best MMA fighter who has fought under the universal rules and has the highest boxing accolades is James Toney.

If people can take in three hours of baseball or football, surely they can take in two or three bouts of boxing.

What's next...TKO's for leg kicks? If a ref is gonna call TKO shouldn't the move come from boxing?

Dawson's a punk and that Ref is a moron. What the hell was he thinking anyways ?
If I had paid to see that fight I would be very pissed off.

Since when do boxing refs care about what should be?
