How many of you guys know anything about Hungary. I'm going there for a competition.

Budapest? It's a cool town. If you want to wake up screaming from psychic backwash I suggest you stay here (http://www.citadellagarden.hu/eng/hotel.htm).

I work with a guy from there. It's not a great place it seems, low standard of living makes everyone miserable apparently.

Didn't want to stay in a Dorm per se. Will be there for 4 days. World Junior Pankration Championships. How's public transportation?

Nightlife is good, public transport was adequate when I was there a few years ago, but it might have got better.

Dress warm and expect rain I'd say... In fact coming from California, you're going to find it positively arctic :D

Hey, I might see you at the tournament if you're going to Hungary Open. I live in another town than Budapest, but one thing I've learned from this country is that the weather can be a bit unpredictable. Sunny one day, insane rain the next.
So pack an umbrella + it's starting to turn a bit chillier down here, so bring a jacket I guess. Also pack some swimming trunks, cause Hungary is known for its thermal baths!
Also don't expect too many people to speak English....
