Ok, for fucking serious.

One of the Marines in my Unit was in a bad accident, and is currently in the hospital with 80% of his body burned.

If you're o positive, and feel like giving a little bit of yourself to someone who is willing to sacrifice their life for your safety,

Go to your nearest goddamned red cross station, and donate blood. Specify, fucking SPECIFY that that **** goes to Lcpl Aaron Roeder, in Toledo fucking Ohio.

And please, if you're gonna do this, do it fucking yesterday.

Thank you.

9/23/2010 5:25pm,
Hope the LCpl pulls through. Fortunately O+ is the most common blood type around and the hospital surely has sufficent supply.

All the best for your friend Moose, unfortunately I am A-.

Mods: Any chance we can sticky this and put a title reflecting the urgency of the situation?

Stuck. I'm O+. Can you actually specify that it goes to someone several states away?

Not o+, but i thought a little google was the least i could do:

Can I direct my blood donation to an individual?
Patients scheduled for surgery may be eligible to donate blood for themselves in the weeks before non-emergency surgery in a process known as autologous donation. If an autologous donation is not used, it is discarded. Family members and friends can also make directed donations. Directed donations are fully tested, so if they are not used by the intended patient, they can be released for use by other patients.

No idea how it works, i assume you just say you're a friend?

Moose, I hope your friend pulls through, it'll be a long road to recovery, but have hope.
O+ is a very common blood type and hopefully there will be plenty on hand.

I am O+ and have donated in the past, and plan to start doing so regularly.

Sorry to hear about your brother Marine Derrek.

It's doubtful that blood donated by the forum members would make it's way to your man. It has to be screened for AIDS, HEP and no telling what else. In addition to the testing, there are transportation issues.

Type O+ is very common. Your man will get his.

Burns are the worst. You guys pull together as the brotherhood always does. Sounds like he has a real fight ahead of him.

If I wasn't AB- I'd do it on general principle. Hope he pulls through.

9/24/2010 12:25am,
Also put a call out for O-, they can donate to everyone.

9/24/2010 12:27am,
O+ here, but it's a long way from Helsinki to Ohio. Hopefully you friend will be alright.

batttlefields is spot on, mods should change the thread title to suit? By way, am 0+, frequent doner (but plasma not whole blood) but am in Australia.

9/24/2010 2:06am,
I don't wanna be a dick but if he really has 80% of his bdy burned, its unlikely some blood will help.
im very sorry for that guy.

Take your non-existent medical degree elsewhere Lebell. This is not the time or place.

Moosey - hoping for the best for the LCpl...he's lucky to have people like you in his corner.

0 negative can give blood to anyone, o, a, b or ab, pos or neg. They are the oldest blood type. For future reference I am o neg. If your mate was in Australia I'd direct it his way, hope he gets well.

I also hope no one on here would need this type of info.

9/24/2010 8:52am,
Stay strong for your friend Moose. He is in my thoughts.

9/24/2010 10:55am,
All the best to you and your buddy. I'm in Canada and my blood type (B Rh+) probably wouldn't help. The critical and ongoing need is definitely out there ,and would strongly encourage anyone who is able to donate blood to help save a life and do it.
