Police: "Rampage" goes on one
Driver hits at least three cars during chase that begins on 55 freeway and ends with arrest on Balboa Peninsula.
By Joseph Serna
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, former light heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighter Championships, was arrested on suspicion of felony evading, hit-and-run and reckless driving Tuesday after he allegedly led police on a pursuit from Costa Mesa to Newport Beach, police said.
Jackson, the driver of a lifted, gray pick-up truck left crashed cars, shredded tires and sparks in his wake this afternoon when he led police on a short pursuit from the southbound 55 freeway exit onto Newport Boulevard where he hit at least three cars, police said.
The driver hit two cars at 19th Street and Newport Boulevard, then drove away at about 1:13 p.m., Lt. Paul Dondero said. A Costa Mesa police officer saw the driver southbound approaching 17th Street and tried to pull him over, police said. There, he hit at...

Little Rock, Arkansas — Crowds in Arkansas came for the lure of cage fighting and $1 beer, but police say what they got instead was men ripping each others' clothes off and kissing — a stunt suspected of being orchestrated by Sacha Baron Cohen of Borat fame.
“We had a contract for cage fighting. We were deceived,” said Dwight Duncan, president and CEO of Four States Fair Grounds in Texarkana, where the first of two Arkansas fights raised suspicions last month.
Matt Labov, a Los Angeles-based publicist for Baron Cohen, said he had no comment Monday about the faked fights. One of Baron Cohen's movies is due out next year.
The day after the June 5 Texarkana bout, Fort Smith's...

Sherdog Makes up Fighter Quotes?

FightLinker has stumbled onto something that may be of interest to the MMA community regarding popular MMA website Sherdog.com:
Sherdog has an article up with quotes from a bunch of different fighters regarding the Jackson / Griffin fight. One of those quotes is from Phil Baroni: Phil Baroni (Pictures): I don’t know how two judges gave Forrest that first round, man. That’s some bulls—. I thought Rampage clearly won the fight. That first round could have been 10-8 for Rampage!
The only problem here is that Phil claims he never said anything like that at all: First off I never gave my opinion on the fight being scored wrong to anyone esp a reporter from Sherdog. I never spoke to any media about my opinion the fight. I think its bullshit that Sherdog quoted me. First off I think the fight was a great one. Second I feel the decision was a fair one. I think Forrest is an inspiration and fought his heart out. His career is an inspiration and story book. He...

Stop: Bullet Time! - July is "Hollywood Sucks" Month

Go on, admit it: you're a mark for cheesy action flicks. Every summer you pay your $10 for the privilege of getting to sit in a crowded theater with chatty teenagers, smelly fat people, and crying babies, so that you can see the latest abomination of physics marketed as an "Action" movie. ("Action" here is intentionally in quotes because lately, its about as plausible as Willie Nelson's alleged mid-coitus backflip while being only slightly more entertaining to see on the big screen.)
But unfortunately, this is not a new phenomenon. Hollywood's been doing a disservice to the Martial Arts ever since James Cagney gave up backmount to a one-handed toe hold from a white guy pretending to be a Japanese judoka.
You might think that after the 80's and 90's we've seen the worst of it. You'd be so damn wrong you should get a vasectomy.
This month is a tribute to the stupidest fight scenes ever put on film by people who've never been in a real fight in their entire lives, along with the...

Deadly clicks: Shaolin Temple sets up eBay-style shop
SHANGHAI (AFP) - Between perfecting one-finger handstands and single-handedly fending off 1,000 enemies at once, the residents of China's Shaolin Temple are hawking t-shirts, candles and chopsticks online.
The temple in central Henan province, famous as the birthplace of kung fu, has established an eBay-style store selling Shaolin branded merchandise on China's TaoBao auction site.
The site is operated by Shaolin Zhiye, the temple's commercial arm, which is behind an array of ventures exploiting the Shaolin legend, including film productions, touring martial arts shows and even a reality-TV program.
The site does not offer the secrets of immortality but for 10,000 yuan (1,450 dollars), fans can buy a three-volume set of kung-fu and medical secrets.
More modest offerings include a wristband and environmentally-friendly chopsticks.
Despite their name, critics say, the temple's current occupants are...
