EASTON -- A Nazareth man sued an Allentown nightclub and a club bouncer Tuesday, alleging the bouncer kicked him several times in the head and broke his eye socket. According to the suit filed in Northampton County Court, Bruce Remaley required a surgical plate in his face after bouncer Joseph Van Brackle Jr. kicked him at the Crocodile Rock nightclub, 520 Hamilton Street in Allentown.
The suit says Van Brackle is accomplished in the martial arts and "brutally assaulted and attacked" Remaley without provocation April 11, 2003. Van Brackle struck Remaley several times in the face, knocked him down then kicked him twice in the face, the suit says. The suit says Remaley suffered great pain, required surgery to treat his injuries and may be forced to spend money in the future to treat the injuries. The six-count suit says Van Brackle should not have been hired by Crocodile Rock because he has an extensive criminal record, which includes crimes of violence. Lehigh County court records were unavailable late Tuesday. A check of Northampton County criminal records revealed no criminal history or complaints against Van Brackle.
Van Brackle was a professional mixed martial arts fighter, the suit says. Directory assistance had no record of Joseph Van Brackle Jr. living at 111 Quaker Drive in Bethlehem, his address as listed in the lawsuit. Remaley, who lives at 112 Convent Ave. in Nazareth, is represented by attorney Gary Asteak. A phone message seeking comment left at Crocodile Rock was unreturned Tuesday afternoon.
