Are we gonna start arguing with Serious harm again?...because there are like three threads already doing that.

It is about each individual's personal cultivatiion of the inner universal being, and the natural works which manifest amongst people of all types all around the world.

Following such principles in life, and exposing the persecution and torture as well as clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa is hardly a "particularly idiotic" activity.

Serious harm is all about being part of cultivations minus the ivations.

I see this is an old thread, but it definitely merits some new life. (Or maybe I like beating dead horses. :deadhorse)

This originally began as a discussion on Dahn's take on Tai Chi. Being from the Chicago area myself, I am well familiar with these cash factories for the chubby. I've been practicing the Taiji Yang form for over 2 years, so I am at least not a total amature when it comes to the subject.

When I walked into the Dahn center 3 months ago, and asked them about their Taiji classes, they right away tried to sell me their energy reading session, and shoved a Dahn Mu Do brouchure in my hand, with no further reference to anything Taiji. I'm guessing they no longer refer to their thing as "super-ancient magic Korean Tai Chi." Good call, I say.

For those unfamiliar with the Dahn organization, it's a money making cult for Ilchi Lee.

On a more personal note, one of my co-workers is a Dahn member. They spend way too much time at their centers, are expected to put in volunteer hours, and generally are exploited in every conceivable way i.e., host our events at your own expense, or, "if you are serious about attaining enlightenment, buy a Dahn franchise."

Their "yoga" class is more like qi gong, but they seem to be under the impression that our primitive caucasian brains will simply explode at the mere thought. "Yoga" it is.

In short, total BS. It's sad to see all the people dish out money for the "magic non-martial martial arts." I wonder if I should start my own magic yoga cult...

Ok...at this point I don't whether to praise you for the extra info or slap you for necrofucking a thread...however, being that it is the holiday season....GOOD JOB on the extra info. ;)

I received the same type of intro you did. I went back about a year ago, because my wife was shopping at the Korean grocery store next door and I was bored as hell. I decided to push some buttons. I went in asking questions about their taiji. Sure enough they started with the 5000 year old crap. I told since their society was barely 5000 years old, how can you tell me that a bunch of wondering monguls were waking up every morning doing yoga. I told them that it was a bit hard to believe especially when Chinese Taiji is only believed to be 300-700 years old. The most amazing part was when they English suddenly went bad.

I told them no problem that I would go back and bring my wife to translate for me. They told they wouldn't have time because they had "energy" readings to do. So again...This place....CULT!!!

Now I feel gross from the sloppy seconds of the necrofuck of the thread.

Dahn is a cult. Read the above links. I did tons of research on them after my wife got a "yoga" gift certificate to train at the one near us in NYC. My wife has done yoga for years and after moving in with me was looking for a place near by where we live. After the first class, she came back with a book and was like "this is not yoga" and she got a real freaky feeling from the place and people there. They had that "glazed over" look about them. In the ads, they have all the typical yoga images of chick in yoga cloths, doing postures, whatever. When you go in, you have to wear these funky uniforms, do this crazy qigong type exercise where you slap your body all over, spend money on trips to their compound out west (where someone has died from the training), and of course spend cash on everything. Reading up on the group was scary. They are a CULT.

I couldn't have put it better. They pound the crap out of the "dong jong" or whatever the hell they call it, during practice. They claim pounding yourself in the chest and abdomen "loosens your chi." Nuff said.

Don't get me wrong, I do qi gong as much as the next cult leader, but then again, I don't pound the shit out of myself in front of fully grown adults, passing it off as yoga.

If you guys in the Chicago area want to get together to put a crack down on their Taiji/Yoga claims, it might be worth a shot. Then again, their god (Ilchi Lee) has more money than the pope, and thus, they can probably afford to reincarnate Johnny Cockrin, and have him do a reverse OJ on us. Still, I think what they are doing is wrong. They are misleading gullible housewives into dishing out thousands, so that their glorious leader can pay for his huge mountain mansion in Sedona. You be the judge.

BTW, the co-worker that I mentioned earlier, came back from her Korea trip. She had some freakish claims about Ilchi. With a straight face she told me the man can meditate, and melt snow in the winter. He also meditated on a mountaint while fasting for several weeks. She claims he fell off the said mountain, then climbed back to the top to finish meditating.

I can also confirm that this guy claims to be the savior of mankind, and that he claims the end of the world will come in 2012. I have heard this from the said co-worker, and anyone involved enough with Dahn members has no doubt at some point heard the same.

If anybody wants to discuss, feel free to contact me.

It's ok, Ilchi Lee reincarnated the fuck out of it. Now it's alive, and giving out Dahn energy readings at the mall.

This is pretty standard stuff.

I gotta see if we still have some of the old materials from them. I will scan some and put it up.

Not when it involves magically melting all the snow around you, or falling off a cliff, then climbing back to finish your meditation. Nnnnope... nothing seemingly standard here... unless you fall off cliffs and climb back up to meditate on a regular basis?

I kept the Dahn Mu Do brouchure with the claims of "ancient 5000 year old Korean culture." I wonder how long before they contact Bullshido, and threaten to sue unless this material is taken down?

They already bought a shitload of domains to overwhelm the negative web sites about them. This guy is RICH!!! :biblethum

I would also like to take a moment to point out the reason that Dahn merits being posted here on the Bullshido forum, despite being primarily a "yoga" center. A recap, if you will.

1. They make fraudulent claims about their Tai Chi classes, which involve their history and lineage. (i.e. ancient 5000 year old Korean traditions)

2. They have an agenda which involves highly cult-like tendencies (seeing their founder Ilchi Lee as a messiah, who will bring salvation when the world ends in 2012, and gaining a specific number of followers by that year.) If I am wrong about the specifics, please feel free to correct me.

3. Marketing their Qi Gong as yoga to people who don't neceserily know the difference. Anyone with legal experience? Does this constitue false advertising?

4. Dahn Mu Do, their non-martial art martial art. I kid you not.

You know what...for birthday next week I might ask for my energy reading as a present. Maybe see what other bullshit they can come up with. Let me see what is on my agenda and if I can fit brainwashing in there. I'll go visit the other place near me and play with them.

Couldn't think of a better way to spend a birthday. Maybe at Padpong... ... ... but I digress.

There are 2 centers in Buffalo Grove, where I live. I think I will hit the other one, and run the same thing by them.
