I have seen people posting about how incredible this guy is. The clips show him hitting really fast and people even say that he's Bruce Lee reincarnated...(I know Brucey boy is bad) but in his profile it says that he's has over 30 years of martial arts exp. including Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, Karate, boxing, Ving Tsun and more. You guys think he's credible? I mean he's fast and all but he seems pretty sloopy...

He's not sloppy. In fact, his control is pretty impressive. How much power he's packing is another story.
Then there's the issue of only demonstrating on human dummies and the fact that he slaps himself to make hitting sounds, cuz that's just weird.

Yeah, I wouldn't call him sloppy, but there SEEMED to be a lack of power there. In fact, I wasn't even certain most of the stuff LANDED.

I wouldn't fuck with him. And his WC hands are lighting fast.

I like his pro-wrestling foot stomps.

His battle with the guards was magnificent.
His skill is extraordinary.
And I was going to ask him to join us.

Looked like pretty typical wing chun to me (at least in the clip or two I saw).

He was striking so fast in one clip that it looked and sounded like he was doing a little jig or tap dancing!! I guess the only way to find out about his power is take a few and see how much you bruise up.

is this technique (http://www.swissbudo.ch/movies/images/030801jdk2.mpg) wise?

Pretty interesting. I had to watch about nine clips to get an accurate sense of the guy. He seems okay. Fast, yes. But, all the students in my teacher'scurrent clas are at least that fast (but mostl of them can't hit worth a darn). He seems very able, but isn't really hitting any of those ukes. He's hitting to contact, but not through. Technique-wise, he's pretty clean. Maybe we should invite him on here, then to a throwdown?
btw - I hate it when bruce's name is brought up. . .they should let the guy be the first coming of himself.

Bruce was a big inspiration to me......thirty years ago.
I have to agree with The Wastrel when it comes to how nauseating Bruce's deification was and is.

Wise? I dunno. How good do you have to be to do it correctly would be a better question. As far as a technique, it seems pretty kempo-ish. Step to the side to avoid a strike, punch the arm to stop it's momentum, and slow the opponent's turn toward you, kick to the opposite knee to disable, and destroy the rest. Pretty standard fare.

he reminds me of that guy jackie chan fought in gorgeous. I wonder if its the same guy or his twin or something? And whose the better fighter of the two?

30 years ago I had his nunchuck poster on the back of my bedroom door, and practiced 3 hours a day! LOL

Well it does say the following on the page:
"Tommy Carruthers is committed to continual improvement and he wishes to stress that the techniques demonstrated in these clips are not necessarily techniques that he would use today."
BUt those chin up videos are impressive!!!!
