I have two questions:

Anyone here train in judo in south eastern MA and can recommend a school?

What is the defining characteristic of a bad/good judo school?

Thinking of joining next week, and the school i have found are not to tech savy. Personal Recomendations go a long way.

Depends if you are looking for a sport to compete in or a martial art to study. Sometimes both can apply to one place, but I'd say a school will tend to focus on one or the other.

theres "newton judo club" in newton...all i know about it is that its 10 bucks a month for 3 classes/wkm which is probably way too good a price to be true. I've heard that it's students learn a lot and enjoy it though.

Thats some COLD shit Joe.
But I can't say it wasn't earned.
As for Judo in MA.Jimmy Pedros school is north of boston and great for judo as sport.Tohoku Judo club in Somerville is the biggest school in the state, it is traditionally accented.
In braintree you got Miki Takemoris club, which is small, and sport oriented.
"The other newer Judo club in braintree has a nice website(cant find it now) but ive no personal knowledge of it.
Judo and womens wrestling" in foxboro is more traition than sport based.

There are worse things than training with a Olympic medalist and 2008's Olympic gold winner.

Do you mean the San Machi school?

J-lau, I looked at your school. I might be interested, funds are low right now. I am looking for something a little cheaper until i get back working full-time. Before i went overseas I was doing Krav and BJJ, but that sh1t gets expensive. If you can message me an idea of the fees that would be great, even if it is an estimate (i say message because you may not want that info on the web).

The other school in Braintree is PhoenixJudo. Been trying to get more info from them.

I think its 65 Monthly for unlimited if you do electronic debit, 75 by monthly bill in the mail, or 85 a month if you pay by cash monthly.

It was 65 cash up until a year ago, but people were taking advantage of Joe. They would pay on the 1st one month, then the 7th the next month, then the 14th and so on. And Joe is too nice of a guy to say "Give me my damn money!", and its always touchy asking people for money.

If you have any questions, you can email me at JoeLauzon@hotmail.com or hit me on AIM at LauzonRSD.
