hey everyone, it seems like all the tourneys that are in my area do point-stop sparring. so, this is for all of you who have ever been in sport karate or anything like that, what are your favorite techniques to use? what are some really good ones to use? i like jumpint double-punch, reverse cresent kick, and roundhouse kick.

Personally I like to fake a lead leg hook kick to the head, and switch it to a round kick at the last second. It seems to work pretty well on most opponents.

Is this point sparring only?

i don't do point sparring, i just think it's dumb and it'll develop bad habits. i use the side kick (to knee or ribs or chest) the Thai kick and the reverse punch the most.

If its with the same leg i think i have seen this move in the New Tekken 4 done by Lee/Violet

Heh, I didn't play Tekken 4 when I started using it. Although it is a really nice combo to use in point sparring. Want another one? Sliding front kick, when the person side steps (If they do) backfist to the chest. Or if you like Thai: Jab, Cross, Hook, rear kick.

Hopping front kick as soon as the fight command is given.

Back fist, overhand right to the body, right back fist right off the overhand right.

Jab, jab, overhand right, left hook to the body, left hook to the face, right uppercut or overhand right to the face.

The last one I use in continous fighting too.

It's always good to use combos even in point sparring.

I like to use excessive contact in my first point to get them mad or worried. Heh heh.

Cast in the name of God. Ye not guilty.

thanx everyone. the one thing i like most is tkd's fancy footwork.......it really works well when the back is not a target and to confuse people

Just wondering... how do you switch from a left hook to a right roundhouse? What I really want to know is what do your feet do... I've heard of that combo but haven't SEEN it. Does anyone have a Vid?

Personally, I like to point off in the distance and yell, "Look... a Moose!" When they do, I smack'em in the head. :)

Sadly... I've actually done this to students in class when I see their focus is lacking.

I like sparring with TKD guys, because they always lead with thier feet. I either catch thier feet, and then kick them back, or I'll block their feet with my feet, and then punch them in the chest. (No punches to the face allowed.)
