Female US Army Soldiers to get their own uniforms

From the article:"The ACU was designed for a male," Sgt. 1st Class William Corp, modernization non-commissioned officer for Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment, told Army Times. "A man typically has broader shoulders. So when a woman puts on the jacket, the shoulder pockets are more toward her back. This is one of the things we're looking to correct."

I'm sure people will give this a lot of flak, but I think having access to the proper gear is important for any soldier. No word if it will be any better aesthetically.

AS long as no one says they look "cute" in the new uniforms, it's more a safety issue, hey? Like you're not going to expect a 6'6" guy to go to war in the same uniform as a 5'7" guy.

What they need to do is replace the stupid color of the boots. I got blasted out of a tree up into which I'd climbed to snipe some recruits with paintballs at my last drill; all because the goddamn boots are only effective camouflage if you're buried from head to ankle, upside down, in a sand dune.

I think this is a good idea as long as the uniforms fit in a more functional manner, rather than a more revealing one. In other words, alter them to allow easier access to the soldier's kit. Sex appeal has no place on the battlefield, or even behind it if the soldier works in a support MOS.

Considering how uptight the armed forces are about sex appeal and uniforms already, I doubt my concern will be an issue.

Just switch to Multi-cam or something.

Seeing as how other country's armed forces pay for breast implants , I think we are behind on the times. Although you can get them in Army...you just have to supply your own implants

Doesn't this fit into the same category as making sure fat people have fat uniforms, short people have short uniforms, and tall people, etc, etc...?

different uniforms for different body types. Seems simple enough.

1.) I've never seen GOOD boots that really complement camo.

2.) ACU pattern is horrible anyway. The multicam switch for Afghanistan is nice, but it's better to have camo that is more specific to your particular area. I have multi cams for mountainous regions, and tan tiger stripes for desert wear.

3.) Replace those shitty issued boots with something else, if you can get approval. I recommend appropriate lines from Asolo, Scarpa, and Kayland as good alternatives. I have Asolo power matic 400 gvs, and I love them, though I should mention that they are fairly heavy duty backpacking boots, and may tear your heels off if you don't break them in properly. I also have cheaper Merrell Moab Ventilators for my assault/hot weather boots. I can run pretty well in those, but wearing them for long periods of time with a ruck is a terrible idea.
