That's the most disappointly misleading name for a website since the time I found the boob_nazis community on Livejournal and it was all about public breastfeeding.

That was a great interview - plus, it was nice to see your perspective on what it takes to run a successful gym. I wonder how you would approach the kids curriculum so that they will want to continue it as a lifelong practice ... I think that is a big mistake being made in other arts like Tae Kwon Do - a kid gets his/her black belt, and then feels like there is nothing else to learn

I have though about it...since we don't have ranks and I don't wat to go down that road.

First, I would not have open enrollment. I would limit the number of child students to say 15, register kids in line with school semesters, and make it an "audition" type process. Make the program seem special and unique...something earned. I would not take kids under 10 years old.

I have also been playing with various ideas regarding reinforcement outside of belt ranks. Still based on accumulation of skill, but not represented ina belt.

Most of my non-martial art career has been working with kids. I think I could run a solid program. but, right now, I think I am going to wait till 2011.

    awesome interview.

I'm a firm believer in 'grappling is grappling', but i liked your take on how the belt changes the game a lot. It's a good explanation for why sambo places heavier emphasis on those techniques than bjj.
