    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Hapkido your thoughts?

Been taking Hapkido for almost two years, I was hoping to get some feedback on what people thought of the art.

After two years people will probably ask you what your take on it is.

To answer: For me the joint locks and basic sweeps and takedowns have helped me in law enforcement.

I still (affectionately) refer to it as "Judo on crack" =)

I agree the joint locks are crucial and one of our Black is in Law Enforcement as well and has used it like you did. I always try and find more input considering that being in it for only two years isn't that long. Yes it is like judo on crack lol, butt BJJ is like judo on Heroine then lol.

    Lol...or like Judo on meth!

Actually on a serious note the break falling I have learned has saved me from injury quite a few times also...and not in fights...I'm talking about just slipping on ice or tripping over somthing.

I find the gaining of balance this art has helped me out as well, especially with BJJ if I didn't acquire the balance from hapkido I wouldn't have some what of a decent base in BJJ.

I have about 18 months worth of Hapkido. It was fun. I learned a great deal but the instructor I started under moved and went to coach/teach his true love ( Judo ) in Tennessee.

I always called it Aikido's retarded, violent, kissing cousin.

    Good times.

I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

How hard do you go at your Hapkido gym? From what I understand its a style thats slightly mma like correct? An hapkido black would be compare to what color in bjj in terms of grappling skill?

I did some boxing with a small club back in Kentucky, worked with a lot of really good wrestlers and BJJ guys outside to get my grappling and throwing people fix and now that I have moved to Dayton it is injury city for me.

Your a Sponsor you can read about it in the BBC if you get bored.

I really did enjoy my time in Hapkido ... well ... up until it turned into a daycare center.
