Bob Chaney World Martial Arts Inc.

I'll be checking this place out, I don't know anything really about Tae Kwon Do, I've just been in Karate. They are offering 2 free lessons so I can decide if I want to join or not. The two lessons will be given by Bob Chaney. Can any experts tell me anything about Bob Chaney?

    Thanks.

It says they have Muay Thai, BJJ and boxing. WHy don't you join those instead of TKD, since the flavor of the month is TKD Sucks. See Stickies at top of the forum.

There are only children shown on the TKD page pictures. I think that answers your question right there.

I know I don't post a lot, but this was at the bottom of the Muay Thai page:

    MUAY THAI GEAR

After 6-9 months you will be ready to spar and you will be required to purchase your own personal safety equipment consisting of head gear, shin and instep guards and a mouth piece.
WTF you have to wait 6 months to spar. Isn't that a bit long? I had to start sparring from the second lesson. Also he claims to have trained many champions. Why doesn't he name them on the site? Just curious

The purpose in training is to learn how to fight. Waiting 6-9 months is just gouging your money. You should spar after 4 or 5 classes.

It looks like the BJJ instructor is a blue belt named Brock Garner (http://www.bobchaneymartialarts.com/...ock-garner.htm)

He lists some pretty esteemed instructors that he has learned from or trained with, i.e., Pedro Carvalho, Wander Braga.

A good blue belt can provide great instruction on the basics,( see Aesopian's work for reference). However, without a more experienced instructor your advancement and technical proficiency in BJJ will be limited.
