BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

Ah guess I shouldn't have replaced one oversimplification with another. Anyway, the whole regions a fucking mess (as that chart floating around the net shows). Lots of **** stirrers+saudi money+pakistani intelligence meddling=so many problems it'll never be "fixed" like some wishful thinkers believe it will be.

Eh we didn't have a whole lot directly to do with the rise of the Taliban. Yeah we packed up and went home after the Soviets left, leaving the area basically unwatched and we poured shitloads of munitions into the area which they surely benefited from, but they didn't get US support the same way they got support from others.
Anyway enough of a threadjack, Gurkhas are cool."Keep a sharp knife, shiny boots and be on time." -

I suppose the ambiguity here is that the Taleban used to be the lawful authority in Afghanistan. Granted, that was ten years ago, so they pretty much count as insurgents anyway. I'm too lazy to start figuring out if there's an actual standard for deposing a foreign government and/or the entire political system of a country.
