I posted a similar video before somewhere else - but whenever animal grappling threads come up, gull fights always spring to mind for me (I see this sort of thing a fair bit where I live).

Yes, gulls grapple - in a style suited to their body layout.

    YouTube- ‪Seagull Fight‬‎

Think about it. If you use your razor sharp beak (and only grasping instrument) to directly attack your opponent's body, you're leaving yourself wide open to *his* beak whilst doing so. So, number one priority is stopping him shredding you - by immobilizing his beak, which also immobilizes yours. What else can you do then, with the tools you have, other than standing grapple him and try to boot the **** out of him until you can wrestle him down and pin him under you?

Some of that reminds me a bit of the motions in Aikido when sparred with full resistance...

Dude if silver-back gorrilas knew BJJ that would be so bad ass! their freaking devastating grip strength can literally rip parts of your skin and face off! like anyother race grappling and balance does come naturally (and can be improved of course) but Monkey's already have a great sense of grappling and whatnot

omg amazing! but I believe if you angerd a gorilla they would even own chuck norris :(

I think what needs to be done is, Bullshido needs to sponsor a couple of us to go out and buy some apes, then teach them our own preferred style and them pit them against each other in some sort of 8 sided cage. AFC! Ape Fighting Championships!

It needs to be done. For the good of science!

PS I've got dibs on teaching my ape Judo and BJJ

The ape gets a hansokumake for the kibisu-gaeshi at 1:01. There are real life examples of tiger vs brown bear & mountain lion vs grizzlies. Cat wins. Cat-grapple strategy is basically single leap to the back followed by bite to the spine. The ability to do a jumping 180 really helps. I think cat vs ape would be pretty similar. Ape goes for hammer fist, cat jumps on top of ape.

There's also anaconda vs jaguar. Ability to sink teeth into turtle shell means jaguar rips through anything. But I'll take the anaconda vs a lion or a bear.
