It is miraculous that he managed to achieve such amazing skill through the use of science without ever needing to step foot on the battlefield.

Any short power hitting technique, straight punch, hook, palm strike, requires practice; being rooted, proper mechanics and developing explosion. Also, a short strike will be even more effective if the target area moves in towards you. Bruce Lee was the real thing. If you want to see what his fighting looked like watch the old Green Hornet episodes.

Ah so watch a film to see how good he was at fighting... right... I'd rather see him fight to be able to judge how good he was a fighting but nah, I'm just old fashioned.

1 in punch demos invariably are done on a compliant subject standing flat footed and making absolutely no attempt to defend themselves. An overhand right in this situation would be much more effective.

It is truly sad when someone makes the effort to get online and then posts something as monumentally stupid as that. May god have mercy on your soul.

Never mind. The Green Hornet series was probably before your time.

God, I hope that wasn't his real fighting style. He can't even hit anyone with his little darts.

Despite the feeding frenzy on a topic like this, I'm gonna offer my two cents.

I doubt the 1-inch punch was ever intended to be a combat technique, even by the exalted Xingyi bounty hunters. It is, at most, a training objective. A skill to learn to help train the body in some way. If you want to learn it, go right ahead, but don't take it too seriously.

We already have a decent thread on this topic.

The technique it represents is for combat. People have mixed the training with the actual technique.
