    gees long thread.

getting back to the original martial arts vs fighters thing... I think there is a difference but I wouldn't define it the same way as others have.

To my knowledge, every martial art was developed by someone who was good at fighting for the purpose of fighting. The philosophical trimmings associated with a lot of traditional martial arts came later and for that reason I regard mauy thai, boxing, wrestling etc all as forms of legitimate martial arts. In a lot of ways I think they've stayed purer to the original intent than other martial arts that have over time meandered off down meditational or philisophical routes due to their associations with religious groups.

But I think there is a difference between a martial artist and a fighter - and that just comes down to training. Someone who's well trained in a discipline is a martial artist. If some freak of nature emerged who stood 8 foot tall and weighed 500lbs of solid muscle - he'd probably be able to destroy most martial artists through sure size and strength but unless he has the training - I'd call him a fighter.

We're all fighters, it's in our nature, some people like fighting more than others and some are just no good at fighting but you can't take the fighter out of the martial artist, what you are in actuality trying to do is redefine MA and I disagree with your definition

You're wasting your breath. This thread was started by Veridian who, by any reasonable definition, is neither, judging my his previous posts.

By the way: STFU n00b and welcome to Bullshido.
