I do that to- a month ago my youngest brother and our cousin bought 2 pairs of 10oz gloves and we all "box" (none of us has any formal training in a striking art) at least once a week. Last week I was sparing with my brother who btw is taller than me, has a significant reach advantage and much better cardio. After fighting a few minutes, and getting elbowed in the process I got into clinch an without thinking koshi gurumed him into kesa gatame. After a couple of my hammerfists our cousin jumped on me and they both proceeded to GnP me. I escaped but was to gassed to continue the sparring.

Every birthday for the past couple of years has been punctuated by being thrown by everyone in my Judo class. My 23rd birthday it was over 40 people.

More or less. Specifically, try to get the hang of rolling with punches and not eating them full force (or, ideally, at all).

congrats but what did you do to celebrate? make it epic.

For example: On my 21st, i went out to a nice dinner with my friends, pretended to be in a rush afterwards, ushered them all into the car (i was driving), locked the doors and proceeded to fart loudly. My best friends (and girlfriend) just screamed and clawed at the doors while slowly inhaling my fart. Best Birthday Ever.

this is vastly different than trying to take more punches. work on your slipping and head movement, and keep your footwork light to fight at the range you want.

usually i just eat myself stupid with friends/family on my birthday, but this past year i really just didn't do anything.
